English Nationals August 2018 – Rosemary Allan
I (Rosemary Allan) competed in the English senior nationals August 2018. My first singles game was against Maya Kateli from Middlesex. I had played her previously in March so knew her game and managed to win 21-15, 21-15. Next up was Abbie Smith in the last 16. I started very well and won the first set 21-13. Abbie (I presume) received some good coaching and completely changed her game plan to come back strong. This threw me off guard and she won the next set 21-9. The final set was close all the way through. I was 11-10 up at the interval and then managed to gain a 16-13 lead. Abbie kept fighting though and came back. Unfortunately I lost the final set 21-17. I was upset to have just missed out on a place in the quarter finals but was pleased with my overall performance.
