Essex U17 Silver – Oct 2018
Elliot Roberts Reviews the Essex U17 Silver
On the 21st of October I played in the Essex U17 Silver where I entered the boy’s singles and level doubles. In was in a group of 5 in my singles and had some tough opponents. I first played a younger player from Kent and I won that game comfortably 15-4 15-4. In my 2nd and 3rd games I played opponents with a bit more skill and still won both in 2 games but with tighter scores (15 -12 19-17 VS Nithin Santhosh and 15-13 15-13 against Jack Burke). Finally in my group I had to play the no.2 seed Ben Hammond who I had played before last season. I edged the first game 15-9 but failed to capitalise on key points in the 2nd where I lost 10-15. In the final game he played some brilliant badminton and I couldn’t prevent the 8-15 loss in the 3rd. In the doubles I played with Dom Nabasa (Surrey) and we won one game against a higher graded pair 15-5 15-9 but lost to two more experienced pairs in close games ( 12-15 8-15 against the no.2 seeds and 13-15 12-15).
