On 20-21 I competed in the Essex Silver October 2018. I had the advantage of it being at my local home ground. I had a bye first round & then had Lauren New, which I won 21-13, 21-11. Next up in the quarters I had Abbie Smith. I had lost to her in 3 sets in nationals a few weeks before, so I knew it would be a tough game. Like nationals, I started very strong and won the first set 21-13 (which was the same score as nationals)! Then, like nationals, Abbie came back fighting in the second set and I was 8-3 down at the start of the second set. I didn’t want the same outcome as last time I played her so I changed my tactics and managed to come back to 18-18. After a long second set with some tough rallied, I won 21-18. I was chuffed to have won this time after losing to her the last time we had played. I was now in the semi finals which was to be played the following day. Unfortunately I did not perform as well as the previous day. I lost the first set 21-9. I was 11-5 down in the second set when I started to improve my game. I was too far behind at that point though and lost 21-18. I was pleased to have reached the semis.
