Bath U15 Gold – Jasmine Owen
Jasmine Owen – Bath U15 Gold – 28.10.2017
With Jasmine having hardly trained in the last 2 weeks and still struggling with movement she decided not to enter the singles (Won by Jasmines conqueror from Liverpool – Aditi Bhat).
Jasmine, reunited with regular mixed doubles partner Dan Kite struggled in the 1st round playing poorly in a loss against Logan Ireland & Keryn Swann 21-23, 19-21.
Jasmine paired up with an old rival from Ireland (They had previously played each other in the Glasgow International Semi-final), Sophia Noble. Jasmine and Sophia started reasonably well in beating Katie Reilly & Grace Sachdeva 21-19, 21-11. The second match was a tougher affair against the established No.2 seeds Megan Brierley & Sophie Watson. Jasmine & Sophia struggled to get a foothold in the game going on to lose 9-21,15-21.
Jasmine came through the day knowing there was a long way to go before her movement, fitness and form would be back to where they were before her injury.
Jasmine spent a quiet week resting, seeing the physio and playing very little after Bath.
For the next four weeks Jasmine has upped her intensity with regular training in preparation for the U15 Gold at Notts on the 9th December. This should be a good guide as to where Jasmine’s form and fitness currently stand before the New Year brings on more challenges.
Jasmine was shortlisted for the Pembrokeshire sportsgirl of the year award (U16). Though not winning this was a great achievement for Jasmine as well as badminton with fellow West Wales Academy player Lowri Hart deservedly being awarded this prestigious accolade ahead of very accomplished nominees from other sports.
