ELLIOTT ROBERTS – Reviews his tournaments, starting with the Surrey U15 Singles restricted in September 2018
Earlier this year in September I participated in the Surrey U15 Singles restricted tournament. In this tournament I won my group with ease and progressed straight through to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals I played a good game and won 21-14 against a decent player as they had also done well in their group. In the final I played my fellow 1st team mate Arya Admane who is graded higher on BE Grading but I knew it would be a close game as we play together a lot in training. I played a great game coming from 20-18 down to win 24-22 which meant I became U15 Surrey champion for singles. I also entered the same tournament but for U17 and surprisingly continued the good form and progressed through my group despite playing county players from the age group above. This meant I progressed out of the group in 2nd behind the eventual winner. I won the quarter final with ease but played a very strong opponent from the u18 squad in the semi-final. I battled but could only manage a tight 2 game defeat which meant I left with a gold and a bronze.
